Sardinian violator in Germany

Recently in Germany some crazy guy from Sardinia heavily mistreated his Lithuanian girlfriend. He's been properly prosecuted and condemned for these serious offences. But there seems to be something peculiar and unfair in the way the German judge dealt with this saddening matter. In this sentence he considered to be an extenuating circumstance the fact that such delinquent is Sardinian. In his view, Sardinians are considered to be violent towards women because of their culture and ethnicity. The result was that this criminal man has to spend in jail two years less than he should if he had been German. This is totally unacceptable for two reasons. The first reason is that Sardinians never mistreat their women. For instance, I personally know two German ladies living in Cagliari and married with Sardinians who lead a safe and normal life, just like the average Europeans. The second reason is that when people are guilty of terrible crimes as in this case, they shouldn't be given any extenuating circumstances because of their uses and customs, regardless of their being real or imagined.
My personal opinion is that all sorts of violence must be severely fought, always and in all circumstances.
As for the judge, I hope he will correct his bad habit of talking about matters he knows nothing about. It would be nice if he could come to Sardinia and learn something real about our culture.
